Job Description

The Agile Coach/Scrum master will be responsible for maximizing the ongoing performance of a cross-functional agile team and producing products rapidly and with high quality. He or she will work with the team to establish product backlogs, produce estimates and budgets, and deliver commitments to the business on time and on budget while minimizing risks and surprises. This is a leadership position that requires strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative nature and awareness of self and others. The person in this role must work with other Agile delivery leaders and Managers within the organization to share learning, mitigate technical dependencies, plan resource needs, and maximize proactive consistency between agile teams on an ongoing basis.

Manage the process of building / customizing / selecting / implementing high quality software products that meet the needs of the Divisions and Offices

Executing with discipline – including meeting commitments, consistently producing high quality outcomes while meeting schedule and budget constraints, and implementing strong practices for documentation and processes.

Monitoring/managing team velocity/throughput

Getting the team the resources it needs

Removing roadblocks and escalating effectively

Maintaining focus on the goals of the business

Ensuring that the team is making good commitments and delivering on the commitments that it makes.

Identifying, tracking, reporting on meaningful performance/progress metrics, and assists the team in achieving performance goals.

Reporting information to and for the team clearly and continuously

Ensuring that the plan changes with demand/supply

Identifying where performance breakdowns are occurring

Working with team to identify and implement improvements

Ability to lead large and/or complex projects

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or related degree or equivalent combination of education and experience desired

8+ years of professional experience in software development projects.

Proven success in a leadership role with responsibility for delivering large and/or complex IT Software Development projects.

5+ years of leadership experience as a Scrum Master on an agile software development team

Deep understanding of Agile practices (in particular Scrum), as well as experience with traditional methodologies.

Experience with traditional project management practices such as estimation, budgeting, resource allocation, scope management, change management, risk management, escalation, etc.

Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively in meetings, email and informal discussions.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple demands without missing deadlines.

Strong teambuilding skills and teamwork orientation; able to coach, mentor or lead by example.

Strong creative problem-solving skills.

Strong understanding of risk management techniques and ability to develop appropriate contingency plans.

Experience with agile project management tools (VersionOne preferred)

Hands-on experience as a tester, developer or team lead.

Certified Scrum Master

Available for off business hours implementation and support
