Do you have a pioneering spirit? Could this be your dream job? We are a Waldorf-inspired K-12 program in northeast Florida serving families who have chosen home education - part of the growing “home school revolution!”
We seek a classroom-experienced, enthusiastic candidate excited about working in a developing school with an all-outdoor environment. Your classroom without walls is in a beautiful preserve filled with all the gifts northeast Florida offers. On inclement weather days, the school moves indoors.
Teaching at Spring River includes a commitment to looping with a class for the duration of the lower or middle school years, forming a strong bond with students, colleagues and families. The ideal candidate will have two or more years of teaching experience, whether in a traditional or non-traditional setting, a Bachelor’s or more advanced degree in a related field, a commitment to self-development, and an excitement to work in an all-outdoor school setting, carrying primary responsibilities to deliver a multi-disciplinary, arts-infused education to your students.
Benefits
We offer competitive salaries, 40% tuition remission for dependent children, a health stipend to use as you wish, paid time off, mentoring and teacher and student support in and out of the classroom, and paid professional development to include Waldorf Teacher Training if there is alignment with our Waldorf Pedagogy.
Note that the State of Florida offers the Step Up for Students Scholarship, which should enable teachers to cover the additional tuition if they apply. Spring River is a Direct Pay Provider of Step Up for Students.
Instructional days are Monday through Thursday, with Fridays set aside for faculty meetings, work-from-home, and in-service days.
We will consider relocation assistance for the right candidate.
Support
We provide one teaching assistant in each classroom, leadership and mentorship through the College of Teachers and Pedagogical Administrator, and internal student support services.
Who is Spring River?
Spring River, located on the coastline of Northeast Florida, is an initiative of Jacksonville Educational Community, a pioneering non-profit organization founded by parents and local educators driven by a common desire to create a transformative educational experience focused on the whole-child approach. This impulse led to establishing Florida's first Waldorf-inspired K-8 all-outdoor home education program.
We also offer parent-child classes for ages birth to 5, a parent-led playgroup, a two-day homeschool enrichment program, nature immersion homeschool enrichment classes, and a Homeschool High School Program.
