Position Overview

Do you want to develop your career as a human resources professional? As Human Resources Assistant, you’ll provide comprehensive human resources support to our fast-growing employee team. You’ll gain broad exposure to all human resource functions in a company committed to both business success and employee well-being. You’ll report to the Human Resources Director and collaborate with staff throughout the company. Your primary focus areas will include recruitment, onboarding, training administration, benefits, compliance , safety and information records/systems. Hybrid position 30 - 40 hours per week. Starting pay $21 - $23/hr. Must have reliable access to automobile for travel to Maryland sites in Rockville, Upper Marlboro and Frederick as well as other locations in Maryland, DC and Virginia.

Key Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in related field, such as human resources, business or liberal arts
  • At least one year related experience in administrative support or project management, with strong preference for human resources experience
  • Organizational skills

  • Discipline in applying department/company processes and procedures

  • Flexibility in meeting varied schedule needs to include occasional early morning and weekend hours
  • Access to automobile for travel to company locations in Rockville, Upper Marlboro, Frederick and other locations in Maryland, DC and Virginia
  • U.S. employment authorization

Other Helpful Background

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field
  • Advanced skills in spreadsheet, word processing, presentation and office applications, such as Google Workspace and Microsoft 365
  • Quantitative analysis skills
  • Experience with human resources applications /systems, such as HRIS, payroll and ATS systems
  • Interest in pursuing human resources certification and developing human resources career

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment: Screen/interview candidates, schedule interviews, and gather candidate assessment information, conduct reference checks and administer background checks
  • Perform onboarding tasks
  • Communicate benefits information and support benefits administration
  • Administer training
  • Perform data entry, reporting, systems maintenance and file management tasks
  • Support compliance programs, such as employment postings and I-9 execution
  • Support policy administration and communication
  • Prepare documents
  • Respond to manager and employee inquiries
  • Support safety programs and initiatives
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation of HR programs and processes

Schedule/Location

  • Schedule - Monday to Friday 30 - 40 hours per week, with occasional early morning, late afternoon and weekend hours
  • Typically two - three days per week in-office (Hybrid)
  • Location - Maryland sites in Rockville, Upper Marlboro and Frederick, as well as other locations in Maryland, DC and Virginia
