Job Description

We are seeking a Junior Cybersecurity Engineer to join our security team and assist in protecting our IT infrastructure, networks, and systems from cyber threats. This role is ideal for an individual with a strong foundational understanding of cybersecurity principles who is eager to learn and grow within the field. The Junior Cybersecurity Engineer will work alongside senior engineers to implement security controls, monitor systems for vulnerabilities, and respond to security incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

Security Monitoring & Incident Response:

• Assist in monitoring security systems, logs, and alerts for potential threats.
• Respond to security incidents and help in root cause analysis.
• Support investigations into security breaches and assist in remediation efforts.

Vulnerability Management & Risk Assessment:

• Conduct regular security assessments to identify system vulnerabilities.
• Assist in implementing security patches and updates for software and infrastructure.
• Work with senior engineers to analyze risk levels and recommend mitigation strategies.

Security Implementation & Compliance:

• Assist in the deployment and configuration of security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and endpoint protection.
• Support efforts to maintain compliance with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, HIPAA).
• Help enforce security policies and best practices across the organization.

Network & System Security:

• Assist in securing network infrastructure by reviewing firewall rules, access controls, and encryption protocols.
• Support identity and access management (IAM) activities, including multi-factor authentication and role-based access control.
• Help conduct penetration testing and analyze results under the guidance of senior engineers.

Training & Documentation:

• Document security incidents, procedures, and best practices.
• Assist in employee security awareness training and phishing simulations.
• Stay updated with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Basic understanding of network security, encryption, firewalls, and endpoint protection .
• Knowledge of security concepts such as threat detection, vulnerability assessment, and risk management .
• Familiarity with SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tools, IDS/IPS, and anti-malware solutions .
• Basic understanding of cloud security (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate security risks to non-technical stakeholders.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or CISSP (Associate Level) are a plus but not required.

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

• Passion for cybersecurity and eagerness to learn.
• Ability to script in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks.
• Basic knowledge of ethical hacking and penetration testing tools .
• Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, CIS Controls, or ISO 27001 .
