Job Description
The Irrigation Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, scheduling, and performance of the irrigation team. This role ensures all irrigation projects and service requests are executed with efficiency, accuracy, and a high level of client satisfaction. The Superintendent provides leadership, operational oversight, and technical expertise while serving as a key liaison between crews, account managers, clients, and administrative staff.
Key Responsibilities Scheduling & Time Management
- Oversee morning dispatch to ensure efficient start-up and allocation of resources.
- Review daily and weekly time entries for accuracy and compliance.
- Manage daily, weekly, monthly, and annual scheduling for irrigation crews and tasks.
Field Operations & Quality Control
- Visit crews daily and conduct production site audits to ensure work meets company standards.
- Review and close daily work tickets in a timely manner.
- Investigate internal issues raised by account managers and provide practical solutions.
- Review inspections and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Client & Team Collaboration
- Attend meetings with clients and account managers to review projects, address issues, and ensure satisfaction.
- Create proposals for irrigation services and project enhancements.
- Participate in weekly task force meetings to align on operational priorities.
Administrative & Technical Oversight
- Partner with administrative staff on end-of-month reporting and oversight.
- Assist in creating purchase orders (POs) and purchase requisitions (PRs).
- Manage SmartLink (irrigation controller technology) issues and troubleshooting.
Other Duties
- Receive after-hours calls and respond as needed to emergency situations.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support branch operations.
Qualifications - 3–5 years of experience in irrigation operations, landscape management, or a related field.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing crews and overseeing projects from start to finish.
- In-depth technical knowledge of irrigation systems, controllers, and water management best practices, including SmartLink, Hunter, and Rainbird.
- Hands-on experience with 2-wire irrigation systems required.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Irrigation Technician License required; Licensed Irrigator is a plus.
