Job Description

The College of Education (COE) at Butler University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month faculty position with a start date of August 2026. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, motivated, and collaborative faculty member who will recruit and teach undergraduate students in the Kinesiology program, support and contribute to our Human Performance Lab, collaborate with the Butler Institute for Sports & Entertainment, and liaise with Athletics and the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Students in the Kinesiology major may choose to add concentrations in Pre-professional Studies, Applied Human Performance, and/or Sport Coaching.

Responsibilities
  • Teach on-campus courses each semester. Teaching load may include classes in the Kinesiology major, the Sport Coaching minor, and/or the Butler University core curriculum
  • Serve as an academic advisor for undergraduate students
  • Provide service to the Kinesiology Program, College, University, and broader professional community
  • Contribute to building an inclusive learning environment that provides equal opportunity for success to all
Required qualification
  • Earned Master's degree from an accredited university in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sport Science, or Health Sciences, or a related discipline.
Preferred qualifications

While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
  • Earned doctorate from an accredited university in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sport Science, or Health Sciences, or a related discipline
  • Expertise in Exercise Physiology and/or Strength & Conditioning.
    • Preparation to teach courses such as Introduction to Kinesiology, Fitness & Nutrition, Measurement and Evaluation in Physical Activity, Sport, and Exercise; Kinesiology; Exercise Physiology; Strength and Conditioning Training.
  • Specialized certifications such as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Certified Athletic Trainer, ACSM certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP), and/or Certified Mental Performance Coach.
  • Interest and experience in teaching in responsive, human-centered, and experiential contexts.
  • Interest in formal and informal mentoring of undergraduate students interested in Kinesiology and related fields.
  • Interest in innovative program delivery and development.
  • Ability to support learners from a variety of backgrounds with strong, student-centered instructional methods.
