Job Description


Our client in the Electrical Switching Industry is seeking Mechanical Assemblers to join their team in Etobicoke. This is a 6 month contract position. 

Location: Etobicoke 

Hours: 6:30am - 3:00pm (includes a 30 minute unpaid lunch)

Pay: $24.25

Responsibilities 

Essential Functions

  • ·         Assemble basic mechanical parts. Utilize hand tools and power tools to fasten screws, bolts, and other hardware to secure components in place, ensuring proper torque and alignment.
  • ·         Inspect mechanical components meticulously to identify any defects, ensuring they meet strict quality standards. 
  • ·         Maintain accurate records of tasks performed, deviations, and any quality concerns. 
  • ·         Adhere strictly to safety protocols while handling tools, equipment, and materials. Report any safety hazards promptly.
  • ·         Complete in-house training to learn how to read basic blueprints and Bills of Materials (BOLs).
  • ·         Use an overhead crane, ladders, and other material handling equipment to move and position materials for assembly.
  • ·         Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards. 
  • ·         Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.

Additional Functions

  • ·         Work with departmental mentors to gain and feedback in pursuit of improved work quality. 
  • ·         Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required 

  • ·        0-1 year of experience in assembly with a desire to learn electrical/mechanical assembly processes, follow assembly instructions, and use various hand/power tools to assemble products.
  • ·         Proficient in performing precise and delicate tasks using hands and fingers. Able to manipulate small objects, operate tools, and handle intricate equipment effectively.
  • ·         Good attention to detail, with the ability to determine accurate order quantities consistently. 
  • ·         Ability to work independently and meet requirements of assigned materials requests. 
  • ·         Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of production support departments. 
  • ·         Basic computer skills with the ability to review and respond to requests via internal applications. 
  • ·         Basic math skills with the ability to calculate measurements and weights. 
  • ·         Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team member inside and outside of the department. 
  • ·         Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measurement tools. 
  • ·         Ability and willingness to follow Health, Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team. 
  • Capable of embracing diversity and equity to ensure they contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace. 

Preferred 

  • ·         Ability to read blueprints.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles.
