Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire an Office Coordinator to provide specialized office support functions for Lake Murphysboro State Park, Kinkaid Lake, Horseshoe Lake, Union County, and other parks as assigned. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience as a timekeeper, the ability to balance accounts, prepare purchase orders and invoice vouchers, and use the computer to prepare a variety of documents, databases and spreadsheets. Star-shaped Lake Murphysboro is surrounded by beautiful rolling hills and woods, and it is the perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors providing a wonderful backdrop for boating, fishing, picnicking, camping and hiking. Essential Functions

• Under direction, performs complex, specialized office support function duties for Lake Murphysboro State Park, Kinkaid Lake, Horseshoe Lake, Union County, and other parks as assigned.
• Orally or in writing, explains procedures, rules and regulations, and/or services to contractors, vendors, other parks, and the public.
• Serves as timekeeper for employees at Lake Murphysboro, Kinkaid Lake, Union County, other sites as assigned.
• Prepares complex correspondence and memos from written and dictated instruction, including safety issues, questionnaires, department information and numerous detailed information requests from visitors and other agencies.
• Develops complex, multi-program databases, spreadsheets, forms, and applications for fast and efficient completion of routine reports.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two years of secretarial/business college, or completion of high school and two years of related office experience or two years of independent business experience.
• Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm.

Preferred Qualifications

• One (1) year of extensive knowledge of basic mathematics.
• One (1) year of working knowledge of the logic of computer programs.
• One (1) year of experience having the ability to follow oral or written instructions.
• One (1) year of extensive knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Conditions of Employment

1. Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
2. Requires appropriate, valid driver's license.
3. Requires ability to travel to satellite sites in the performance of duties, when needed.

OLM facilitates activities from small group interpretive programming at Historical Sites, to hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, and camping.
