Job Summary:
The City of Greeley is seeking an experienced full-time Plant Operator A - D for our Boyd Water Treatment Plant, which is a 38 MGD direct filtration plant located in Loveland, Colorado. The Plant Operator will report to the Lead Plant Operator and will work with a group of committed employees and other professionals who are dedicated to operating, maintaining, and optimizing all aspects of the plant to enhance Greeley’s leadership role in the northern Colorado water community.
This plant is unique in that it operates seasonally, generally April through October. Boyd Operators will work rotating schedule of 12s,10s, or 8s for 6 months with 1 month rotation and for 6 months work 6am -4pm in Offseason. During the offseason all staff will primarily work on maintenance projects and preventative maintenance on various equipment in the plant and throughout the water system along with assist at Bellvue WTP, Transmissions, Reservoirs, or High Mountain Reservoirs as needed.
The Plant Operator will be monitoring and maintaining raw and finished water quality. Operators will adjust water treatment chemicals based on online analyzers, perform laboratory bench tests to verify quality, and adjust raw and finished flows as demands dictate. Maintenance will include online process equipment, as well as various pumps, motors, and other plant equipment. You will collaborate with plant mechanics to assist with preventative maintenance and larger projects. Other duties as assigned may be delegated to the individual.
