The Department of Biomedical and Applied Sciences at Indiana University School of Dentistry invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship in the area of Dental Caries and Erosive Tooth Wear.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing and the development of in-vitro models to investigate the remineralization and demineralization efficacy profile of novel industrial prototypes with respect to carious and erosive lesions.

The position will be for a period of one year, with the possibility of a one-year extension subject to satisfactory performance review and funding environment.

Fritts DDS Clinical Care Center on the IU-Indianapolis campus, adjacent to local hospitals and part of an urban academic health center. In 2026, we will open our newly renovated Delta Dental Special Care Clinic to enhance our ability to train oral health professionals and provide care for patients with disabilities, including those with complex craniofacial disorders and medical complexity in an interdisciplinary setting.

Basic Qualifications

Applicants should hold a PhD in an area related to mineralized tissue research. Candidates must have a sound research background in inorganic chemistry and materials science with a strong understanding of hydroxyapatite chemistry and proficiency in physical measurement of inorganic materials and surfaces.

Additional Qualifications

Experience in enamel remineralization and demineralization, including the execution of single-shot and cyclical models, is highly desirable.
