SENIOR ACCOUNTANT POSITION SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision, this position applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by compiling information, preparing account reconciliations, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures.
THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR THIS ROLE:
• Responsible for monitoring GL and data accuracy; works with management to investigate and correct discrepancies; follows up on budget variances and outliers.
• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts and document business transactions.
• Assists Director of Finance and CFO in financial reporting objectives and company budgeting processes.
• Assist initiatives for cost savings and procurement strategies, recognizing opportunities for expense reduction and optimal ROIs.
• Responsible for Company's Accounts Receivables and the timely and accurate processing of invoices to customers, monthly reconciliations, report preparation, and debt collections.
• Maintains data within the Company's Fixed Asset program; utilizes program to accurately calculate depreciation and populate balance sheet's PP&E.
• Collects and records all retail and wine club payments, analyzing data for accuracy and investigates and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Preparation of Bank Reconciliations, flagging potential errors and discrepancies, and helps to anticipate cash flow in vineyard operations.
• Annually prepares Personal Property tax statements, quarterly Sales and Use Tax, and other fiscal returns routinely for timely submission in adherence to all required deadlines.
• Reconciles the TTB 5120.17 Report of Wine Premise Operations and prepares Federal and State Excise Tax Forms.
• Partners with the Director of Finance in the month, quarter, and year-end closing activities and procedures, actively reviewing data quality in preparation for timely submission and reporting submission.
• Assists in the scheduling and preparation of data for external financial review; assists auditors with timely answers to their inquiries and data gathering; reviews findings.
• Responsible for the reconciliation of Company's inventory on a monthly basis; Extracts data from inventory recordkeeping systems and reviews, investigating and resolving discrepancies to accurate product levels in a timely manner.
• Reconciles general ledger to inventory costing system.
• Interacts with all departments in the training and guidance of proper expense coding and other accounting team's financial processes.
• Reconciles balance sheet accounts and amortization schedules as necessary for accurate and current reporting obligations.
• Responsible for creating and maintaining SOPs for all Senior Accountant responsibilities.
• Responsible for the safekeeping of Company's proprietary and confidential financial data through the strict adherence to all company's security policies and processes.
• Special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFIED CANDIDATES MUST MEET THESE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelors degree in business with a Finance or Accounting concentration or related discipline or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years experience working in Accounting
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Advanced level skill in working with financial, accounting, and inventory systems with demonstrated ability to extract data necessary to produce timely, accurate reports
• Knowledge of BNA (Fixed Asset System), Microsoft Navision, Wine Direct, JET, InnoVint or similar software is not required but would be a plus
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
• Outstanding interpersonal communication skills; able to communicate professionally, both verbal and written, with others at all levels of the organization
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadlines; even temperament, even when under stres
• Ability to work independently under general supervision, and maintain high standards of accuracy with strong attention to detail
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including Overtime, Weekends or Holidays during crucial time periods (year/quarterly/month end reconciliation)
• Proficient in the use of a PC in a networked environment to include in MS Office products: Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint
• Experience creating worksheets, graphs and charts that clearly demonstrate statistical information
• Wine Industry experience not required but is preferred
• Sets example for others by demonstration of core values, maintains highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism
