Position Summary:
Established in 1957, the Wurzweiler School of Social Work (WSSW) offers three degrees (MSW, Ph.D., and DSW) along with an advanced certificate in Interprofessional Aging and Palliative Care, as well as the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) certification. The Master's program offers three specializations: advanced clinical practice with individuals and families, advanced social work practice with groups, and advanced community practice. The School has four program options for the delivery of the curriculum: face-to-face/live virtual (Zoom), fully asynchronous online, block program (primarily for students from Canada and Israel), and, in partnership with the Sara Schenirer Institute, a program in the Haredi community. WSSW enjoys an international reputation for academic excellence within the larger academic community of Yeshiva University.
EFFECTIVE DATE: Winter 2025
The Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University in New York, New York seeks a contract line faculty member (rank commensurate with qualifications) for teaching in the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) certification program as well as the MSW/PhD/DSW programs.
Position Responsibilities:
- Teach in the CASAC program
- Coordinate and develop the CASAC program
- Student mentoring and advisement on MSW and PhD/DSW levels
- Participate in ongoing program assessment and curriculum development
- Serve on Wurzweiler committee and University committees
Experience & Educational Background:
- Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited social work program and a DSW or a Ph.D. in Social Work
- Strong potential for excellence in teaching (classroom, asynchronous, and live-online), proven record of successful teaching Addictions courses, and an ability to teach Trauma and Practice
- At least two years of post-Master's practice experience in the field of substance use/abuse. Licensed at the LCSW level or equivalent
Skills & Competencies:
DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: University teaching experience, a record of scholarly publications, successful grant activity, a demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse student body, and a commitment to working with faculty who values shared governance and community partnerships.
