Job Description

Our client is looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to accelerate revenue growth across the South-Central territory (TX, LA, OK, AR, MO), specifically targeting OEM Chassis Dealers and Tier 2 Leasing/Rental accounts. This territory-based position provides excellent income potential within a dynamic, competitive marketplace.

The role requires dedicating roughly 70% of efforts to acquiring new accounts and 30% to strengthening current client relationships, including up to 50% travel to establish robust dealer partnerships and seize market expansion opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Development (70%)

  • Market Penetration : Develop and execute strategic market penetration plans for assigned territories
  • Pipeline Management : Build and manage a robust sales pipeline through disciplined CRM usage and activity-based KPIs
  • Industry Presence : Represent our company at industry events and trade shows to prospect new clients
  • Lead Generation : Generate and qualify new leads with Commercial Truck Upfitters and light-duty Ford/GM/Ram dealers
  • Complex Sales : Navigate 3-6 month sales cycles, negotiate and close complex upfitting deals

Account Management (30%)

  • Market Intelligence : Provide insights on market trends and competitive landscape
  • Territory Focus : Manage light-duty Ford/GM/Ram dealers within assigned geographic region
  • Quick Wins : Identify and close quick-win van-upfit and commercial truck orders
  • Relationship Nurturing : Maintain and grow existing customer base within dealer networks

Strategic Activities

  • Performance Accountability : Deliver against territory revenue targets and new dealer account metrics
  • Self-Generation : Execute hunter-mentality prospecting through cold calling, dealer networks, and marketing lead conversion
  • CRM Excellence : Maintain disciplined pipeline reporting and meet new activity KPIs

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • 3+ years outside sales experience to truck dealers, liftgate suppliers or similar, existing book in target states (required)
  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years new business development experience, OR
  • High School Diploma/GED and 8+ years new business development experience

Core Competencies:

  • Ability to travel up to 50% for client meetings and industry events
  • Hunter mentality with demonstrated drive to exceed targets
  • Strong prospecting and networking abilities in B2B environment
  • CRM proficiency with quota and pipeline reporting capabilities
  • Proven lead generation and closing skills with measurable track record
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Skills : Understanding of complex leasing deal structures
  • Market Knowledge : Familiarity with commercial vehicle upfit industry dynamics
  • Technology : Salesforce experience and understanding of OEM chassis ordering processes
  • Industry Experience : Prior experience with van-upfit, shelving, or flooring suppliers
  • Leadership : Mentoring ability and experience thriving in metric-driven cultures

Benefits
