The Position: The Unaccompanied Child Intake Coordinator is responsible for processing and completing intakes for all UCs that enter our facility. Works directly with the UCs to gather information and process them before meeting with the unit staff.

Compensation and Benefits: The pay range we’re offering is $21 - $25 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Social Sciences
  • Spanish bilingual required
  • Word processing
  • General office skills
  • Excellent reading and writing skills
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening
  • Ability to commute to various sites
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds for filing

VACCINATIONS REQUIRED: Be able to show proof of immunization or immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route, including:

  • Varicella: two doses of varicella vaccine (at least four weeks apart) OR born in the United States before 1980 with a reported history of chickenpox (verified by an adult present at the time of illness) OR titers indicating varicella immunity OR documentation from a healthcare provider verifying previous infection.
  • MMR: two doses of MMR vaccine (at least four weeks apart) OR titers indicating immunity to all three diseases.
  • Tdap: one Tdap dose.
  • Influenza: one dose annually during flu season.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor phone coverage, screening of calls, and appropriate transferring of calls.
  • Maintain and enter all intake information into the Official System of Record (OSR).
  • Facilitate a comprehensive intake for each UC that arrives on campus by gathering details regarding their cultural practices, identities, sensitivities, preferences, and needs.
  • Ensure all correspondence is documented in a timely manner and ensure all records remain secure at all times.
  • Participate in all required meetings
  • Maintain a high-level of confidentiality.
  • Ensure referrals are processed appropriately to guarantee intake criteria has been met.
  • Classify, sort, input and file a variety of records, documents and materials including privileged and sensitive data.
  • Act as a liaison between the ORR administrators and outside agencies as directed.
  • Maintain up to date on policies per ORR regulations.
  • Utilized information gathered on Intake Form to uncover strength-based, holistic approaches for services delivery.
  • Will have dialogue with UCs as to the reason for placement at McKinley and answer any question that may arise.
  • Work closely with other roles to ensure the UCs is ready to transition into one of the units.
  • Within 24 hours of admission, the initial assessment must be conducted. This would be offered to the UC in their preferred language.
  • Identify any immediate needs or issues, identify the severity of any medical or mental health needs, and ensure the needs are met.
  • Ensure questions are phrased in a child-friendly and culturally appropriate manner.
  • Inform UCs of the importance of answering the questions truthfully.
  • Have conversations regarding self-disclosure of unreported criminal history or any violent behaviors, which may result in the UCs transfer to another facility or affect their release.
  • Believe that people can change; demonstrate an ability to set limits and intervene appropriately to meet the needs of the children and families served.
  • Other duties as assigned.
