IP Legal Operations Manager:
Booth Udall Fuller, PLC, a premier, boutique Intellectual Property Law Firm, is seeking an IP Legal Operations Manager to work in-person at our Tempe, AZ office. We handle complex legal matters and strive to advance the expected level of legal representation in the intellectual property community in unique ways that bring additional value to our clients. We seek creative, intelligent, forward-thinking, high-integrity individuals who enjoy the interface of business and intellectual property.

Description:

• Manage the legal operations department, providing direction, mentorship, and performance management.
• Define and track KPIs for legal operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives and continuous improvement in the legal department’s performance.
• Facilitate efficient workflow while identifying and addressing any roadblocks.
• Manage the Paralegal team, providing guidance, support, and oversight of their responsibilities.
• Manage the Legal Support team, providing guidance, support, and oversight of their responsibilities.
• Ensure adherence to processes and standards across the department.
• Lead quality control efforts for all work produced by the department.
• Oversee the training and professional development of paralegals, patent agents, attorneys, and other legal staff.
• Facilitate the onboarding of new paralegals, patent agents, and attorneys.
• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within the department and with other departments across the firm.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business, Finance, Information Systems or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience in legal operations experience at an intellectual property law firm.
• 2+ years of experience in a management role with direct reports.
• Positive, professional, courteous, flexible, and team-oriented.
• Organized self-starter with a high attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines.
• Communicate clearly and thoroughly (written and verbal).
• Ability to handle multiple assignments and manage major projects to successful completion.
• Experience with international patent and trademark applications and documents, including PCT and Madrid Protocol.
• Knowledge of US and foreign patent and trademark prosecution rules and procedures.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, Windows, and Microsoft Office Suite applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel) docketing software, and timekeeping software.

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience using CPI patent docketing software.
• Experience using AppColl practice management software.
